What is music? Fundamentally music is tone and rhythm with meaning.
It is something humans have been evolving with for about ten thousand
years. Our minds and bodies have been making and experiencing music
for dozens of centuries and made great leaps in structure and instrumentation
in the last thousand years or so. We have been attempting to reproduce
this ancient heritage using electronic sound systems for a tiny fraction
of this time, less than one hundred years.
| More information about the history of recorded
sound is available here |
What does all this have to do with your hi-fi? Perhaps very little.
You perceive that your stereo is making music because you can recognize
a familiar song and hear the lyrics and chord progression. It is likely
that your equipment can reproduce these obvious aspects of a recorded
performance but ask yourself this; "does it convey the vitality,
immediacy, complexity and human-ness of the original performance?"
Music systems sold and installed by Tune more closely approach the musical
intent of recorded performances than any other comparably priced
systems.
Tune is dedicated to getting you closer to the
music you love.
At the beginning of this new millenium, it seems that music has become
a commodity. It surrounds us all the time but rarely engages us. It
is an omnipresent background buzz that exalts industry over art and
profit over performance. Strangely, quality music reproduction is increasingly
elusive in a time when music in the home can be more rewarding than
ever. We want you to be engaged in the language of music. In every sense
of the word, Tune music systems let you feel it.

Below, you will find links to a few resources to help expand and inform
your musical horizons. A listing of Seattle record
stores where you can buy recordings is here along with music
venues where you can see actual people making music on stage. Remember
to take earplugs with you if you go to amplified shows and wear them if
the sound engineer doesn't exhibit any concern for your ears. Hearing
damage is cumulative. Please be careful.
Local radio stations are also a great
source to finding new music and station's play lists can be found on
their websites. Several stations feature live performances in their
studios. In these days of consolidated radio station ownership and safe
top 40 type programming, these live radio broadcasts should be appreciated
and supported.
